Panama-Hotel Review of The Buenaventura Golf and Beach Resort
The Buenaventura Golf and Beach Resort is under two hours drive from Panama City but it feels like you are a world away from the hustle and bustle of downtown living. With five stunning oceanfront swimming pools, it’s easy to relax here. Order a cocktail, lay back on a lounger and catch up on your reading.
If you are a golfer you’ll be more than satisfied with the 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course, you can also attend the golf academy and learn how to improve your swing.
If Golf is not your thing you can still stay fit on the running trails or by renting one of the hotel bicycles to tour around the property and the rest of the closed gate community of Buenaventura.
Meals are served in your choice of 8 restaurants and bars including a stylish sushi kitchen, a tapas bar, and beachside grill. We enjoyed a romantic dinner at the El Faro beach club restaurant with its lighthouse and collection of hanging lanterns. As we dined a bat swooped low over the pool next to us as he made his rounds.
Our elegant room was large and modern with shutters to the bathroom opening into the bedroom and five-star amenities as standard.
Our balcony looked over the pools and Palapa bar, where you can enjoy a cocktail and you should prepare to be impressed. The mixologist here is a wizard and concocts the most fantastical libations using inventive ingredients and unexpected combinations. My favorite was an old-fashioned with coffee flavored cotton candy and a slab of dark chocolate.
The bar even has a whimsical gin bath on the deck, an actual full-size bath that you could take a soak in!
Take a walk through the lounge and lobby and see the many local artisan crafts and works of art on display and if you are intrigued to learn more you can visit the on-site Mua Mua cultural Museum.
Spend your days strolling on the black and white sandy beach, or take a paddleboard from the hotel for a day of fun in the water. Jet skiing and kayaking are also available for the more adventurous. There’s a quaint little white chapel at the front of the hotel where marriage ceremonies take place, couples can also choose to wed in front of the magnificent 100-year-old Corotu tree.
The Buenaventura is a luxury, friendly, and sophisticated property, we are already planning a return!
